Today we headed south, to a sweet little place called Miss Grace Country Food House, nestled on the grounds of the Thornbirds Conference and Wedding Centre. Lovely French Provencal decor, fab food, and the most awesome cocktail I've had in years - mixed summer berries, strawberry liqueur, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer. It comes in a glass pitcher (go big or go home!) and is called a 'Frugal Flair'. Not sure where the 'frugal' part comes in (it's like ten times more decadent than a strawberry daiquiri), but it's certainly got a lot of zingy, zesty 'flair'. Highly recommended. Miss Grace itself is open for breakfast and lunch, Wednesday through Sunday. Not sure what the atmosphere of the place would be like with a conference or wedding in full swing, but I couldn't have asked for a more intimate, relaxing spot to while away the hours with my beautiful family on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Today the boys and I took a drive out to Hartbeespoort Dam, popped into the local Wimpy for a quick bite, then headed on over to Pretville which, for all intents and purposes, is an abandoned movie set. Kind of like Spahn Ranch. But without the Manson Family. And centred around a 1950s town theme rather than a Western one. It's just behind the Xanadu Xing Shopping Centre, home of the Hartie's Stones, where we went to watch Sheep on Drugs when they came out from the UK back in 2008, and where some girl ODd on smack in the bathroom. Yep, you read right. A Sheep on Drugs gig in a student bar called Stones in a South African strip mall named after a 1980 fantasy flick involving Olivia Newton-John and rollerskates - seriously, it doesn't get more surreal than that! - oh, and then missing out on the whole David Lynchesque shindig because you can't handle your narcotics. Waha! Anyway, that was a long time ago, and the less I divulge about my dodgy past the better for Goran's as-yet-unsullied future. Below are some pics we snapped today. Enjoy!
